After attending Northwestern Michigan University and obtaining her degree in Commercial Art, Tamara moved to Santa Barbara, CA to continue her education at the prestigious Brooks Institute of Photography.  She received the Betty Brooks Holt Scholarship for women photographers and interned at the University of Missouri workshop for photojournalism as well as Westlight, a Los Angeles based stock photography agency. After graduating in 1991 she started her own business, Tamara Santana Photography, in Ventura, CA. Tamara started her career photographing children commercially and then reinvented herself to become one of the most sought after wedding photographers in Los Angeles with her photographs featured in Southern California Brides, Brides Magazine, Weddings & Brides as well as in catalogs and billboards all over the United States.
