Hoverboard battery may have sparked house fire in Mayfair, officials say

Firefighters say a house fire in Northeast Philadelphia early Thursday morning may have been started by a hoverboard battery. Police told our partners at NBC10 that it was around 2:19 a.m. when crews responded to a home on Magee Avenue, near Battersby Street, in the Mayfair section, where a fire had started in the basement. Responders had the fire under control within a half-hour. Hazmat teams were also called to the scene. Officials say no one was hurt. While it is believed the battery caused the fire, an official investigation is underway. (Photo credit: NBC10)
