How 529 Plans Help Save for Education

To get more info, go to www.drfriday.com. This is a one-minute moment. A 529 plan. That is something that I find is great if you happen to have a fairly big family or some very nice grandparents. One of the laws that they’ve passed is that you can actually give up to five years’ worth of gifting into a 529 in one year. So, for example, if it’s $17,000—this year’s actually $18,000—but let’s say they want to give five years’ worth or $85,000. They could do it all at once, not worry about the gifting laws, and put it into that 529 to grow for later, for where your children are going to go to school. Very important.
