How a Biologist, a Ranch Owner, and Thousands of Volunteers are Saving Sacred Forests on the Island of Maui

Forest Restoration is Cultural Restoration:With less than 3% remaining, Hawaiian dry forests are the most threatened ecosystems in the state of Hawaii and worldwide. The Auwahi forest, often regarded as one of the most intact and diverse dry forest areas in the state is one of best example of what our people can do for forest and cultural restoration. Since 1997, the mission of the Auwahii Project has been to restore and preserve tracts of native forests through volunteerism and donations.
