How a Massachusetts-made car upended a 1909 car race from New York City to Seattle

An automobile race across the United States was held in 1909, when many up-and-coming car manufacturers were throwing their hats in this new age of transportation. And for one of these up-and-comers was a little, unknown factory from Stoneham, Massachusetts: Shawmut. It's all detailed in Boston-based author Eric Moskowitz's new book, "The Hardest, Longest Race."
