Yahya, known online as Caribbean Revert, grew up in a deeply Christian household in Holland in the 1990s, the grandson of a priest, before a young Iraqi refugee named Amir quietly introduced him to Islam and set his life on an entirely different path. He went on to serve 9 years in the Dutch Army as an explosives specialist and anti-terrorism trainer, all while secretly praying in dark rooms and being fired from over 20 jobs after legally changing his name to one that honored both his grandfather and his faith. It was a serious health diagnosis that finally brought him fully to his knees before Allah, transforming him from a struggling revert into a grounded, practicing Muslim who now builds community on a Caribbean island and whose wife took her shahada this very Ramadan.
