How Am I a Neighbor? (St. James, Summit - Luke 10:25-37)

The question "Who is my neighbor?" is a stunningly relevant question today, as the US immigration services prepare to deport members of some 2000 families over the next few days. More, it's stunningly relevant to our lives, as we continue to struggle with how we can care for "those people" whoever they might be when they make us so mad, frustrated, frightened, or stressed. Fortunately for us, the question "Who is my neighbor?" is answered for us through the death and resurrection of Jesus — everyone is my neighbor. Unfortunately for us, the challenge Jesus levels at the lawyer is "How do YOU act like neighbor?" when Jesus tells the man, "Go and do likewise". This is not only the struggle of our age, but a central issue for the Church for the better part of 2000 years.Support the show
