A few weeks ago, Design to Connect had the opportunity to discuss youth empowerment, community building, and creating better cities through youth inclusion and education with an architect, writer, lecturer and the Co-Founder of POoR Shawn Adams. Shawn currently teaches BA Architecture at Central St Martins, UAL, Professional Practice at the Architectural Association and works at housing specialist HTA Design LLP. His work has been featured in The Guardian, The Financial Times and Wallpaper* Magazine. Previously, a New Architecture Writer, Shawn has written for the Financial Times, VICE, Wallpaper*, The Architects' Journal, RIBAJ, ICON, FRAME, OnOffice and Disegno. He has also spoken on Sky News, The Guardian and at talks organised by the Architecture Foundation, South London Gallery and Royal College of Art. Shawn is also a Trustee of the Museum of Architecture and sits on the Advisory Board of Open City's Accelerate Programme. He is an advocate for diversity and inclusion within the architecture industry and is a RIBAJ Rising Star. He is also the co-founder of POoR collective. An acronym for Power Out of Restriction, POoR is a social minded organisation that focuses on the development of communities through the elevation of young people. .
