"How Can I Receive the Jubilee Indulgences?" (The Drew Mariani Show)

from The Best of the Week · host Relevant Radio

The Drew Mariani Show just shared some major spiritual news. Drew sat down with Susan Tassone (a.k.a. "The Purgatory Lady"🔥) to talk about something you will not hear anywhere else:   The Rare "Double" Plenary Indulgence   You’ve probably heard about plenary indulgences before: those incredible gifts from the Church that wipe out the temporal punishment for sins already forgiven. But this Jubilee Year of Hope (2025) brings something unprecedented:   👉 You can receive TWO plenary indulgences in ONE day.    This is huge. Normally, you can only get one plenary indulgence per day. But for the first time in centuries (maybe ever), the Vatican is allowing a second plenary indulgence, but only for the souls in purgatory. This means you can free a loved one from purgatory faster AND prepare your own soul for heaven at the same time. Win-win! 🎉     🙋‍♂️ Wait… What Exactly is an Indulgence Again?   Susan Tassone is here to help:   ➡️ Archbishop Sheen once explained it well. When you sin, God forgives you in confession. But just like pulling a nail from a board, the hole (punishment) remains. Indulgences help fill in that hole, so you don’t have to in purgatory.    ➡️ Susan makes it clear that they're not a “get-out-of-hell-free card” or a “discount” on sin. You have to be in a state of grace, truly sorry, and committed to holiness.     How to Get This Incredible Double Indulgence   If you want to help souls in purgatory, here’s the game plan:   ✅ Step 1: Go to confession. (At least once a month is ideal.) ✅ Step 2: Attend Mass & receive Holy Communion. ✅ Step 3: Pray for the Pope’s intentions. (Any prayer will do!) ✅ Step 4: Perform an indulgenced act. (Pick one!)   -Pray the Rosary (in a church or with family)   -Do the Stations of the Cross   -Spend time in Eucharistic Adoration   -Visit a cemetery & pray for the dead   -Perform an act of charity (help someone in need, visit the sick, donate to the poor, etc.)   🛑 Important: To get the double indulgence, you need to receive Holy Communion a second time that day and do another indulgenced act for a soul in purgatory.     Want Bonus Graces? Visit a Jubilee Church!   The Church has designated special Jubilee churches in every diocese where you can receive even more graces. Find one near you and make a pilgrimage!     👶 Bring the Kids!   Drew & Susan point out that kids who’ve made First Communion can also receive indulgences. Bring them along and teach them about offering their prayers for the souls in purgatory. Faith formation AND family bonding? Yes, please. 🙌     🕊️ Your Prayers Matter; Here’s Why   These souls become powerful intercessors for you once they reach heaven. They’ll be praying for you until you get there, too.   Saints like St. Faustina, Padre Pio, and St. John Vianney all had encounters with souls from purgatory, some of whom were begging for prayers. Don’t let your loved ones linger there!     🌊 An Ocean of Mercy Awaits   Drew & Susan end with a powerful reminder: God’s mercy is limitless. Even if a loved one rejected the faith before death, keep praying. We can’t judge their soul’s final moment; God’s mercy is vast, and our prayers never go to waste.   🛑 Don’t waste this grace-filled opportunity! Start receiving indulgences and make this Jubilee Year count! 🙏💙       The best way to listen to the Best of the Week is on our #1 Free Catholic App. It’s free and always will be!
