How can me be the best version of me? This is the daily service podcast with anthonyman. If you're being true to your core best self today and doing what you know you can do best today, then I declare this time, even as you listen to this, as of this day, your you is the best version of you. I love Dr.
John Maxwell's definition of success. It's I quote, knowing your purpose, growing to reach your maximum potential, and sowing seeds that benefit others. Why do I love this definition? Because if this is success, then success can be accomplished daily.
Then every day I can be the best version of me. Success is not therefore, a destination, but a direction. Besides, his mercies are new every morning. David was a man after God's own heart, and that's the quote, a man after God's own heart.
It was a pursuit that honored God, not a constant state of perfection, of excellence, of victory or success. I like what George Bernard Shaw said. Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.
Keep growing, keep transforming, and wow. Maslow's hierarchy of needs and the revelation that self actualization was not his final and highest accomplishment, recent studies have revealed. Papers from his study have revealed that for Maslow, there was another peak. It was not just self actualization.
Beyond that, it was self transcendence, which was doing something beyond self. Keep growing, keep transforming, keep transcending. And I sincerely hope that this week's content has helped you in your pursuit of identity and authenticity. It's been tough for many.
A difficult beginning. Perhaps even within the supposed security of a family, you will amount to nothing. Maybe many of you heard that. On behalf of parents, can I say sorry?
To those of you who heard such words or similar to it, I apologize. And I invite you to consider forgiveness not just for your parents, not for just those who hurt or those who condemned you, but for yourself, that you might truly be free. Because those words were not your identity. I keep reminding myself I shouldn't be so hard with my own parents, because the painful things that they said or did to me, because why, come on, their parents did the same.
It's a cycle. It's one passing on the experience to another, and often without intention, without consciousness. Hurting people hurt people. I guess we are who we are for a lot of reasons, says Stephen Chbosky.
And maybe we'll never know most of them. But even if we don't have the power to choose where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there. We can still do things and we can try to feel okay. About them.
How can me be the best version of me? I'll say it again. If you are being true to your core best self today and doing what you know you can do best today, then today at this time, you are the best version of you. But hopefully we keep an open mind, because as I quoted my role a creation is not the best thing to ask about its purpose, about its highest potential.
You don't ask the creation. You ask the manufacturer. You ask the Creator. And here is what my creator, whom I invite you to listen to as well, has to say about me and my identity in John 15:16.
You did not choose me, Anthony. I chose you and appointed you that you might go and bear fruit, fruit that will last. And so that whatever you ask in my name, the Father will give you. And right now, dear friend, I ask in Jesus name that you find and strengthen your true identity.
And may this rediscovery truly and fully set you free. It's a Friday and it's time to reflect. And this week we go to ourselves, our identity. Number one, what is one thing about you that you are most thankful for?
The attitude of gratitude say thank you even now as I speak. Number two, what is one part of you that you know has much more potential to grow and invest time, energy and resources that you continue to be the best version you were meant to be? And finally, number three, what is something you can do for somebody close to you that that person might be free as he or she discovers more of their identity? Have a great weekend.
See you on Monday.
