They are the authors of 3 ASCD books: Total Participation Techniques, The Language-Rich Classroom, and Total Literacy Techniques, which is due out in July 2014. Jim Peterson is in his 20th year at Luther Burbank High School in South Sacramento, where he taught Spanish for 10 years and have been an assistant principal since 2004.
