How Can You Pray Through the Stations of the Cross? ✝️ (Morning Air)

from The Best of the Week · host Relevant Radio

If you're looking for a way to supercharge your Lenten journey, Fr. Chris DiTomo has a simple yet powerful suggestion: Pray the Stations of the Cross. He joined Glen Lewerenz on Morning Air to talk about why this devotion is a game-changer for Lent.     Lent = A Journey, Not Just a Checklist 🛤️   Fr. Chris pointed out that Catholics love processions; we're always moving in worship, whether it’s a Gospel procession, a Eucharistic procession, or even a Marian procession. That’s exactly what the Stations of the Cross are: a journey with Jesus to Calvary.   💡 Lent (and life) isn't about standing still; it's about following Christ, even when the road gets rough.     The Power of the Falls 💔   One of the most moving parts of the Stations is when Jesus falls: not once, not twice, but three times. Why does this matter?   -It reminds us that Jesus felt the full weight of human suffering.   -He knows what it’s like to struggle, to feel overwhelmed, to be knocked down.   And yet? He gets back up. Every. Single. Time.   That’s what He calls us to do, too. We all have our own crosses: our struggles, our sins, our setbacks... but Jesus is right there with us, helping us back up.   Make It Personal 🙏   While many parishes pray the Stations of the Cross on Fridays, Fr. Chris encouraged you to slow down and really meditate on them. Instead of rushing through the prayers, take a moment of silence to let the mystery sink in.   🔥Take the Stations outside! There’s something powerful about physically walking through them. Whether at a shrine, in your backyard, or even on a simple walk, moving between each station makes it feel more real.     Helping Kids Enter In 👧🧒   Sarah Tafoya shared a super creative way to help kids grasp the Stations. Their school sent home an egg carton with small trinkets inside each egg: a Band-Aid for Jesus' falls, a tissue for Mary's tears, a little nail for the Crucifixion.   Simple, visual, and hands-on. And as kids grow, the meaning deepens. What an amazing way to make the Passion tangible for little ones!     Don't Skip This Opportunity! ⏳   Lent is short, and Good Friday will be here before you know it. Fr. Chris encouraged you:   -Don’t neglect the Stations this year. -Let them draw you closer to Christ’s suffering and love. -Unite your own struggles with His Passion.   💡 Your move: Find a Stations of the Cross devotion near you this Friday. Walk with Jesus. It will change you. 🙌🔥   The best way to listen to the Best of the Week is on our #1 Free Catholic App. It’s free and always will be!
