How Cities Are Using Technology as a Force Multiplier for Public Safety

On this episode of TechConnect, host David Sholkovitz speaks with Crystal Combs from the City of Charlotte to explore how modern city agencies are leveraging technology to strengthen public safety while navigating staffing constraints and growing community needs. They discuss the critical intersection of IT and public safety, why collaboration between these teams accelerates deployment, and how hands-on approaches - like inviting IT leaders on ride-alongs - build better solutions from the ground up. From AI and drones to real-time crime centers, this episode highlights how thoughtful leadership and strategy can turn technology into a true force multiplier for city agencies.
