How Could Anyone Believe That Jesus Is God?

The Apostle Peter spoke the words. Mark wrote them down. The oldest of the Gospels begins in this way: The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Now let this sink in: These are literally the first words ever recorded about the life of Jesus Christ. That's amazing in and of its self. Now add the realization that this one sentence conveys the heart of the Gospel; the number one belief of all Christians; the core teaching of the Church and the hope of the world. Whoa, this is one huge statement! And its message is clear and direct ... Jesus Christ is God Himself. But is this believable? Does it make sense to think this is true? Could it really be that God is one of us? Seriously, this is a lot to actually be convinced of. Mark knew it would be. So, after he intentionally begins the story of Jesus with this audacious claim, he immediately tells us Peter's eyewitness reasons ... his own personal experiences ... to believe it makes perfect sense. Today we look at these reasons to both encourage our faith foundation and energize our faith following of Christ.
