from Christ Community Church (Brazil, IN) · host mycccbrazil
The studies show that your brain is making upward of 35,000 decisions each day... And in our world today, there are so many things that we can choose from when it comes to making a decision. You want to go out to eat? Well, there are literally thousands of restaurants to choose from. You want to pick a movie to watch? Well, let’s first pick what streaming app of the hundreds out there we are going to even use to pick a movie. Too many choices, plus the additional pressure to make the right choice, can make it hard to make any decision at all. So, as Christians, what are we supposed to do when it comes to making decisions for the “big” things in life? How are we to decide what is and what isn’t God’s will for our lives? This week we are going to pick up in verse 12 and go verse by verse to verse 26 in the first chapter of Acts. What we see here is the first major event after the ascension of Jesus. The apostles and the disciples had to make a serious decision. Jesus ascended to heaven and His followers needed to know who was supposed to fill the role of apostle in place of Judas, who had committed suicide after betraying Jesus. We will learn quite a few truths from these verses today, and we will also discuss some practical steps at the end of how we, like the early Church, can make important decisions and discern God’s will in our lives.
