How do I handle a manager with unrealistic expectations?

The latest episode of Leadership: Your Questions Answered sees Helen McCabe and Jamila Rizvi use their expertise and the latest research to answer members' career questions about shifting thinking around leave, handling a manager with unrealistic expectations and bouncing back after being made redundant.  This week's questions Claire asks: Our employees want an equal parental leave policy, but our board group is resisting as they are a group of privileged males, who associate the concept of primary carer with women. How can we shift this thinking? Sheila asks: I am struggling with workload and at times my manager has unrealistic expectations. How can I take charge in this situation and ensure I have work satisfaction and also space to grow and lead?  Anonymous asks: I’ve just been made redundant unexpectedly. Although management says the redundancies are because of the economic climate and not individual performance, it’s hard not to take it personally and it’s shaken my confidence. How do I find my feet?
