How Do We Know The People Who Wrote the Bible Got it Right?

1 – Scripture means – A writing, things written. Like a script. The Bible was definitely written. 2 – We know it was written accurately because God breathed it, inspired it, and simply used man to write what he wanted – 2Timothy 3:16, 2Peter 1:19-21. All scripture. • Sometimes God spake through men - Acts 1:16 (cf Psalm 41:9), Acts 28:25-28 (cf Isaiah 6:9-10), 2Sam 23:1-2, • Sometimes God told men what to write – Exo 17:14, 34:27, Num 5:23, Deut 31:19 (Cf Exo 15:1-19, Deut 31:30-32:44, Psalm 90), Isaiah 8:1-2, Jer 30:1-2, Hab 2:2, 1Cor 14:37, Rev 1:11,19. • God revealed things that were written down – Deut 29:29, Gen 1, 2Sam 7:26-29, Rom 16:25, 2Cor 12:1,7, Eph 3:3. • Sometimes God wrote it himself – Exo 31:18, 34:1, Dan 5:5, 23b-24. • The word of the Lord came to men – Gen 15:1, 1Sam 15:10, 1Kings 18:1, Jer 29:30, Ezek 1:3, Zech 8:18, Luke 3:2, 1Thess 2:13. You have to have revelation, inspiration, & preservation. Verses on preservation – Psalm 12:7, 119:89, Isaiah 30:8, 40:8, Matthew 5:17-18, 24:35, 1Peter 1:23,25. NT shows that the OT was preserved in their day – Matt 26:24 (Dan 9:26), Mark 1:2-3 (Mal 3:1, Isaiah 40:3), Mark 7:6 (Isa 29:13), John 6:30-31 (Exo 16:14-15), Rom 1:17 (Hab 2:4), Gal 3:13 (Deut 21:22-23), 1Peter 1:16 (Lev 11:45), Luke 4:15-21 (Luke 61:1-2a) How was it preserved – not the originals – Exo 32:15-19, Deut 10:1-5, Jer 36:1-5,23-28…….
