Send us Fan MailHow Do We Meet Our Needs? “The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” - Matthew 4:3Just before Jesus began his public ministry, he was led into the wilderness where he was forced to face three types of temptations that are common to humanity. Surrendering to any of these would have derailed him being who God called him to be. The first temptation is seemingly so harmless that that we often fail to recognize it when we are facing it. Jesus was hungry. He both wanted and needed to eat. We need food, clothing, shelter, emotional and physical support and intimacy. We all get hungry for these at times. There’s no shame or sin in that. They are human necessities. The challenge we face is to resist the temptation to take short cuts that compromise our values, dignity, or the dignity of another person in order to meet those needs. Like Jesus, we trust our footsteps to God’s pathway and trust that our needs will be fulfilled the right way at the right time. I’m Horace McMillon.
