How Do We Move Forward

from Victory Church Jbay · host Louis Els

We move forward by hearing God’s voice and responding in obedience. In John 10:27 [NKJV], it says, My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. What God speaks to us will always line up with the written Word. The more time we spend in the Word of God, the more acquainted we will become with the way God speaks, and we will learn to trust Him, His ways, His character, and His nature. We can hear God’s voice, but sometimes we don’t recognize God’s voice. Other times, we are stubborn and act out in rebellion. God is inviting us to surrender our will and ways, humble ourselves, and incline our ear to His sayings. In James 1:22 [NKJV], it says, But be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. Receive the Word of God with meekness, and with a teachable spirit, it is our responsibility to then in humility, hear what God is saying and to obey. Hearing from God and responding in obedience goes hand in hand with the position of our heart. We need to have a heart that is open to the Word of God, a teachable heart that receives the Word, applies the Word, and yields in humility. When God speaks to us, it is not a suggestion. We need to receive His Word with meekness and a humble heart. When we do so, it becomes impossible for us to walk in humility and meekness and not obey what God has said.
