How Do We Promote A Podcast?

from Ursa Minor Audio Hosted by Ursa Minor Audio

The internet is such a huge place and there's a lot of competition out there. So how will people find your podcast? Here's five ways to spread the word about your podcast: iTunes. Apple's podcast store is the biggest hub for podcasts and getting your podcast listed here has become a necessity for podcasts. Social Networks. Facebook/Twitter/LinkedIn are amazing tools for promoting anything. The important thing is to know how and when to use them. Traditional marketing. Podcasting is definitely in the realm of "new media", but it can still work with, and be complemented by old ways of advertising. If you want to convert your traditional audience to a new format then reach out to them wherever they are. Email lists. Marketing emails are often ignored, but this is your chance to convert your email to a new contact method. Give your email list a chance to free themselves from one more subscription list and ask them to download your podcast. Podcast distributors. Although iTunes is the biggest, it's not the only podcast directory out there, there's plenty of places to promote your media and getting yourself a presence there can help to boost your downloads. There's no shortage of competition out there, but there's plenty of ways to get noticed. Once you've got the content, then cast your net wide and before long you'll be podcasting to the world.
