How Do You Engage with Society?
from The Daily Note with James A. Brown
So, here’s the deal: Pew Research Center found that Americans fit into four groups when it comes to participating in society. We’ve got Mobilizers who are all about action, Connectors who are community-focused but shy away from politics, Spectators who like to watch rather than engage, and then the Outsiders who barely participate at all. Shockingly, almost two-thirds of us are either Spectators or Outsiders, which makes you think. Is it that we just don’t care, or has public life turned into something we watch instead of jump into? It's a thought-provoking episode that really makes you reflect on how we interact with the world around us.Takeaways:The Pew Research Center shows that Americans engage with society in various ways.We are not just engaged or disengaged; there are four distinct groups of participants.Mobilizers are super active everywhere, while connectors focus on community and religion, avoiding politics.Spectators pay attention to the news but don’t participate much in civic activities.Nearly two thirds of Americans identify as spectators or outsiders, showing a gap in engagement.Public life seems to feel more like a spectator sport than an active participation opportunity.Links referenced in this episode:jamesabrown.netpewresearch.orgCompanies mentioned in this episode:Pew Research CenterThis podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Podcorn - https://podcorn.com/privacy
