How do you put yourself online when you don’t like being perceived?

from Everything in Between · host Guillermo Hernandez

In this episode of Everything in Between, I’m talking about the weird contradiction of wanting to be seen while also caring way too much about how people see me. From being convinced as a kid that I was destined to be famous, to growing up hyperaware of how I looked, acted, and was perceived, I’m unpacking where that tension comes from. I’m also talking about masculinity, the assumptions people made about my sexuality growing up, and how those experiences shaped the way I saw myself. And as a disciple of Jesus, I’m asking a bigger question: what happens when Jesus becomes the person I’m actually trying to become like? Because maybe masculinity isn't about proving yourself. Maybe confidence isn't about getting everyone to like you. And maybe posting content without caring what people think isn't about becoming completely unbothered. Maybe it's about knowing whose approval actually matters.
