Period. Full stop. And there's nothing wrong with that. Growing companies create opportunities for workers and empower individuals to earn a living, take care of their families, and find purpose. All wonderful things. But sometimes - perhaps more often than we like - companies prioritize profits over people. No matter how much they profess to be a "people-first culture," no matter how much they claim to care about you personally, if they have to make cuts... well, that warm fuzzy stuff takes a back seat to economics. Layoffs suck. Executives making stupid decisions that impact employees sucks even more. But the lowest of the low is when companies pull a bait-and-switch with employees and act like they're doing you a favor.
