How Evil People Are Desperate to Escape the Thunderous Echo of Their Insignificance
from Walter Rhein Podcast · host Walter Rhein
Let’s bring it back to basics. Good people build. Evil people destroy. It’s as simple as that. The reason evil people can only destroy is because they don’t have any skills. They spend too much time guffawing like donkeys to learn anything. They’re the bullies who sit in the back of the classroom throwing spit wads and setting their textbooks on fire. They mock the kids who demonstrate ethics and accountability. They call them “suckers” and “losers.”Evil people can’t endure the blow to their ego that comes from trying hard and failing. They already think they are “superior.” They feel they should be handed the world. So, instead of real achievement, they fortify themselves with illusion. They claim they’re part of a master race or a master religion and it’s their right to inherit the world.Everything in their life is designed to assist them in bending their perception of reality. They ridicule others because they can’t stand to be the target of ridicule themselves. They repeatedly brag about their own greatness because they don’t have any significant achievements to their name. They set off on a path to insignificance and try to make up for it with braggadocio. They are entirely focused on their personal pleasure in the moment and they don’t care who they hurt in order to get it.It doesn’t take long for evidence to emerge that they are wrong. They get bad grades. They can’t create anything artistic. They don’t have the discipline or drive to be members of any sort of team. But their ego is so fragile that they are incapable of recognizing that they’ve made a mistake. They see everything as a competition and in their minds they have to always be first. They have established an identity for themselves as the ultimate winner. This means they expect and demand to see a string of victories in their own lives. When this doesn’t happen, they develop an itch to create victories. It’s just another way to distort their perception of reality in order to suit their toxic ideology.More and more they turn to ridicule while justifying it as “humor.” When their classmates start creating beautiful things, the bullies threaten to destroy them.Again, all they can do is destroy, they can never create. But it doesn’t stop there. They also have a need to claim the achievements of others as their own. Naturally, this is completely outside the realm of reality because evil people can’t create anything. But they long to be seen as “winners” and “champions” and “superior.”So, it causes them physical pain to see beautiful things possessed by other people. The longer they stew in this contorted worldview, the more they convince themselves that all achievements should rightly be attributed to them.In order to grasp any semblance of significance, they go up to the true achievers and wield their threats of destruction.Destruction is all they have. It appears powerful because though it might take a good person months or even years to create something of beauty, it takes an evil person only a moment to destroy it.This puts good people in a difficult position. They don’t want to see their works obliterated, so they’re forced to negotiate with malicious tyrants. Good people are forced to negotiate even though the evil people never intend to abide by the conditions of their agreement.Evil people only take, and their lust to gather up more possessions is insatiable. The reason is that, deep down, despite all the lies they tell themselves, they know they’re incapable of any form of creation. They have no abilities, they have no skills, they have no drive, they have no determination. They’re little more than parasites. They latch on to everything good in the world, claim it as their own, and spend of their lives defiling whatever it is they manage to steal.Understanding this gives good people power because the mistake we make is to attempt to negotiate with dishonest actors. When they come stomping up and say, “Give me everything you’ve built or else I will destroy it,” we can’t fall into their trap.We have to remember, they aren’t displaying power. They’re displaying fear. We also have to remember that the possessions don’t mean anything. The only thing of any significance whatsoever is your ability to create. Our only strategy is to call their bluff. We have to say, “Go on then, destroy it. Destroy it where everyone can see you.”I’m not sure that they can destroy everything beautiful human beings have created. I’m not sure their frail egos will allow it. Above all else, evil people want to be respected. They want to be revered. They want to possess everything and they want universal praise and admiration. This is why it’s so easy to dupe them with the promise of a fake award. They can’t resist the opportunity to be honored. But no matter how many times they’re honored, it doesn’t help to fill the empty, festering hole inside them. It’s important for decent people to take a lesson from these wretched creatures. Yes, it is tempting to write a story or paint a picture or build a house and have pride in your creation. But you can’t have so much pride in things that you end up valuing those objects more than your internal sense of self.If everything I’d ever written was destroyed, it wouldn’t matter because I could still sit down and write something equally good.An evil person has to sign his name to a manuscript written by somebody else because he can never create anything beautiful. He can never demonstrate kindness. He has no skills or abilities other than mockery, derision, and destruction. At the end of my life, the people who have read my writing will positively influence the people around them.At the end of the life of an evil person, nobody will care about the awards or accolades or other examples of self-aggrandizement. The trophies will be buried in a landfill. The only remnant bad people leave behind is the thunderous echo of their insignificance. And it quickly fades. You all make this newsletter happen!
