The history of the CaliFla Embassy began around 2007 in San Diego, California, when a small group of "rubro-negros" (red-black) supporters started gathering to watch Flamengo matches. These gatherings were initiated because, at the time, it was both difficult and expensive to follow the team's games from outside of Brazil. The name "CaliFla" was created by joining "California" and "Flamengo" to represent the meeting of the club's supporters within the state
