How God Designed Man

It's a cliché that man is a spirit with a soul living in a body. The spirit is the real man, the body houses the spirit and the soul...well, many people say the spirit and the soul are the same. But the scriptures challenge that by categorically stating that the word of God penetrates as far as the division of the spirit and soul. Therefore, if they can be divided, they can't be the same. This raises an important question: what are the distinct functions of the spirit, the soul, and the body in the makeup of man?
