Hey, hey! Do you remember what you were doing in March 2020 or what I call, the before times? We have come so far, and yet almost everything has changed for all of us in one way or another. Right?! Today on the show, I’m joined by singer, songwriter, author, and podcast host, Matthew West. He joins me for a candid conversation about 2020, the pandemic, and everything that has turned our lives and illusions of security upside down.  Matthew shares his memories of the day the lockdown directly impacted his life in an unexpected place and how God used a stranger to comfort him. During our conversation,  Matthew shares stories, experiences, and discoveries from his faith journey of rediscovering “God with us” as inspired by the words of his hit song, “The God Who Stays.” Matthew West is a five-time GRAMMY® nominee, three-time Dove Award winner, and a multiple ASCAP Christian Music Songwriter/Artist of the Year winner. In addition to his recording career, he has more than 130 songwriting credits, including cuts by Rascal Flatts, Michael W. Smith, and Casting Crowns. He has also written multiple books, including his recent release, The God Who Stays. Matthew is also the husband of Emily and the father of two daughters. Listen in to learn more about: What happens when we have the opportunity to step into someone else’s story. How missed opportunities are a gift in their own right. Matthew’s “Summer of No What-Ifs” and how what he learned can impact our lives. Favorite quotes: ~You can’t quit on a calling no matter how many times you get rejected. ~It’s an honor to step into people’s stories and when you do that and when you focus on somebody else’s story instead of your own, your perspective on life changes in a radical way. ~Make the most of the one story that God has you on this earth to write and He is writing it for you so follow in to his plan and that’s  where you discover life to the fullest. In this episode I answered this question: How can I stay motivated? Because I find myself having great intentions but I don't follow through.
