Using the recent publication of Jesse Stommel's book: "Undoing the Grade" as a jumping off point, I consider how those who have done well in academia, and gone on to become academics, have also been harmed by grades. The specific focus is on peer review, an editorial practice based in ideals of communities of scholars collectively producing knowledge.
