How Great Will JJ McCarthy And Michigan's Passing Attack Be In 2023? | Michigan Football 2023

Most of you probably know that I am picking the Michigan Wolverines to win the 2023 College Football National Championship. Michigan is No.5 in returning production this year, they have a Top 5 head coach in Jim Harbaugh, and they return their Doak Walker finalist running back Blake Corum. Michigan Football is on a 25-3 run since the start of their 2021 season, and an improved offense is a huge reason why they have taken a great leap forward. Through an elite offensive line and an ever-growing running back corps, the Wolverines mercilessly pounded opponents in 2021 and 2022. The passing attack, while mediocre and frustrating at times, has also taken a big step forward in terms of efficiency and ball control. For Michigan to win a National Championship, however, I believe they will have to man a great passing attack. Maybe Michigan this year can chew up even the likes of Georgia, but that is closer to fantasy than reality. When Michigan plays Ohio State this year or against any of their 5 road opponents, and when they reach the College Football Playoff they will have to pass the football. Thankfully, Michigan returns quarterback JJ McCarthy, along with wide receivers Roman Wilson and Cornelius Johnson. McCarthy was a Top 20 quarterback in the nation last year and Wilson, Johnson, and newcomer Darrius Clemons have a high ceiling at the receiver position. Michigan also has a deep tight end room with Colston Loveland and AJ Barner, as well as an excellent receiving back in Donovan Edwards. I think the passing attack will be great or near-elite this year, paving the way for a 2-0 Playoff run.
