Back in 2012 Instagram was still very new and the fitness scene hadn’t caught onto how pivotal it was going to be. But towards the end of 2012 through 2013 people started to use Instagram for their own personal fitness pages and lives were being changed through the app. People were becoming sponsored athletes and working with brands and were able to make a living being pretty much an early “influencer” Then around 2016-2018, we saw these “micro-influencers” appear that had anywhere from 10k to 100k followers. These micro-influencers then leveraged their followings into their own online coaching business and this was the beginning of what we all know now as online fitness coaching. Nowadays you can start an online coaching business and make $10k a month just by having 1,000 followers on Instagram and creating valuable content. And what this is showing is that more and more people can get into the fitness scene with smaller followings and earlier into their careers, it’s amazing.
