How important is the GM? with Ryan Achterhoff | 009

This episode really highlights the importance of the GM and retaining the General Manager over a longer timeframe. In January, before the COVID - 19 days were upon us. I had the pleasure of speaking with Ryan Achterhoff, the Chief Administrative Officer of Pizza Ranch, Inc. What I found is that he has more data to prove this point, than most. Ryan can show the direct correlation between profitability and the length of service by the General Manager. This is so encouraging and so important! Due to the dawn of celebrity chefs - restaurants have changed and are now more ever about the food. Ryan Achterhoff currently serves as the Chief Administrative Officer for Pizza Ranch and has served in several roles in franchise development, restaurant consulting & operations, and supply chain management in his 17 years with the company. Ryan currently directs all legal affairs, strategic planning initiatives, and franchise relations efforts for the company; as well as Human Resource and people development activities. Prior to Pizza Ranch he worked in commercial lending and bank management for Iowa State Bank and Sales & Marketing management for a national promotional apparel and headwear manufacturer and distributor. Ryan currently serves as the chairperson for the Iowa Restaurant Association and on the Board of Directors for the Pizza Industry Council, an extension of the National Restaurant Association.
