Gabrielle Crichlow talks to returning guest Darren Jones about the legalities of homeschooling (again!) and the ways that parents can be well-informed about it (again!).Who is Darren Jones?Darren Jones has been with the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) since 1996, serving as a legal assistant and an attorney in various capacities. At the office, he dedicates 40% of his time to assisting members facing legal difficulties, reassuring them that HSLDA supports them. Darren spends another 40% of his time advising homeschool group leaders on matters ranging from crafting statements of faith, with a preference for the Nicene Creed, to designing policies that protect children at co-ops. He allocates 10% of his time to writing legal briefs, often pondering how 30-page documents can be considered "brief," and another 10% to ensuring HSLDA and its sister organizations comply with the charitable solicitation laws of numerous jurisdictions. Throughout his work, he is 100% committed to advocating for parents' fundamental right to direct their children's education. Darren and his wife, Sara, have homeschooled their four children, with the oldest two having graduated.
