Manual therapy skills are essential in treating a stiff hand effectively. Slowing down the movements during manual therapy and educating the patient about the nature of their joint can help manage expectations and alleviate frustration. In terms of exercise selection, it is better to focus on a few key exercises that are performed correctly rather than overwhelming the patient with numerous exercises. Taking the time to explain the exercises and ensuring the patient understands how to perform them at home can lead to better results. Finally, when providing a home exercise program, it is important to consider the patient's success and motivation. Instead of giving them a long list of exercises, focus on a few exercises that they can perform correctly and consistently. In summary, when treating stiff hands, remember the principle of "less is more."
