How serious is social media addiction among youth?

Meta has agreed to pay up to $17.1 billion to resolve lawsuits alleging that its social media platforms harmed children and contributed to teen social media addiction. In addition, it has agreed to make a suite of changes to make the platforms less compelling for minors. Will these changes be effective?
