Send us Fan MailHow Successful Will Jesus Be?“Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world but in order that the world might be saved through him.” - John 3:17If it is God’s desire to deliver the world, and if God has given Jesus this mission, how successful do we believe Jesus will be?In a short reflection, I cannot begin to fully address this ultimate question. I can point out that Jesus has invited us to participate in his work. The early church, according to the Gospel of Matthew, believed that the risen Jesus directed us to go into the world and make students/ disciples who learned to think and do as he did. Jesus has invited us to join him in proclaiming the prophet Isaiah’s words that, “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.”Jesus invited us to live with these words every day in the way we care for those the world deems to be the “least of these.” How successful will Jesus be in fulfilling this mission?
