Ben Akers, a filmmaker and mental health advocate, lost his best friend, Steve, to suicide. Like many men, Steve was unable to express his feelings due to societal pressures to "man up." This loss inspired Ben to create a documentary that evolved into a life-saving network of men's talking groups (and a registered charity), now with over 100 Talk Clubs across the UK. Why is this so important? Male Suicide Statistics in the UK: - 115 people die by suicide each week, 75% of them men. - 1 in 5 people experience suicidal thoughts. - Suicide is the leading cause of death for men under 50.
