How The Beatles Found Success Through Failure - Decca Records Audition 1/1/1962 | Frumess

from FRUMESS · host Jeff Frumess

The Beatles are one of the most successful bands of all time in numerous ways. One could argue that many of those successes can be traced back to a moment in their musical history before John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison brought in Ringo Starr aka Richard Starkey. When their drummer was still Pete Best and Brian Epstein was hoping that he could deliver what he had promised when he signed on as their manager: A recording contract with Decca Records. This watershed moment took place on their New Years Day Audition 1962. They would be rejected then in what might have felt like a failure of what they set out to do, but in the big picture, it was in fact this “failure” that paved the way for their incredible success.
