How the death of 26 Westray miners can save lives today

Thirty-two years ago the Westray mine in Pictou county, Nova Scotia, exploded killing 26 miners. Ten years later the United Steelworkers, other labour organizations and individuals were able to get a federal Westray Law enacted which can help workers today. A memorial held on Tuesday March 26, 2024, was attended by members of the Westray Families Group, Rev. Glen Matheson, Canadian Labour Congress president Bea Bruske, USW National director Marty Warren, Nova Scotia Federation of Labour president Danny Cavanagh, USW District 6 (Atlantic Canada) director Myles Sullivan, E.B. Anderson who performed his song "26 Ghosts" and many others. RadioLabour is the international labour movement's radio service.
