"How The Mighty Have Fallen- Choose Your King" Week 8

1 Samuel 15Sometimes, when we study scripture verse by verse, we come across difficult passages. Sometimes, they are difficult for us to interpret. Sometimes, they are difficult for us to apply. Sometimes, they are difficult for us to accept. But because they are God's inspired and inerrant words, we must take the time needed to wrestle with them. This Sunday, as we pick back up our chapter-by-chapter study through 1 Samuel, we will encounter two of these tough issues: how can a just God command the killing of people, and can God regret a decision He has made? Do not miss the return to 1 Samuel and these important questions. The overall series through 1 Samuel is called Choose Your King. The book of 1 Samuel contains the record of the calling of the nation of Israel’s first kings. These earthly kings had significant victories in their lives and some devastating failures. We will see our own victories and failures as we look at their lives. But above all, we will see that God, embodied in HIs son Jesus, is the only perfect king and the one we need to follow. Because of the length of the overall book, we will break the series up into several smaller mini-series organized around the central characters.
