Series: A Living Hope in a World of Suffering Scripture: 1 Peter 3:1-12 Speaker: Pastor David Hallett We continue our series on the book of 1 Peter. Peter has shown us that we, as believers in Christ, are exiles and aliens in this world. We are called by God to live holy lives before Him in obedient response to our new birth and the hope of our eternal inheritance. That is why the world thinks we are strange. Beginning in chapter 3, Peter turns his focus on the home. How are Christians to live as a godly husband or wife? How are Christians to support each other in the church? How are we to live our lives in a world that does us wrong? Peter’s instructions do not follow the Greco-Roman culture, but they also do not simply parrot that culture. Peter will use motivations from the Old Testament that will show Christians how to live peaceful lives in the home and in the world. The reason is that Jesus did the same for us and we are to follow in His footsteps.
