Alright, I'm listening through my headphones right now, and I'm hearing birds, and I take my headphones off, and I'm still hearing birds. I don't know if you can hear the birds, they're in the tree at my next door neighbor's house, and I have a pretty good studio here with nice soundproofing stuff. I have a window, and it has drapes on it, you know curtains, but I'm still hearing the birds. Do you hear the birds?
Why is that irritating me? Oh, man. I guess I'll just sort of start the podcast. What do you say?
Hello everyone. Welcome to the Daily Grateful. I'm Michael Croes. I'm so darn grateful to be here.
It isn't even funny. I got a very important phone call from my eight-year-old grandson, and he was serious as a heart attack. He had a question for me. He just needed to know.
Yeah, I'm driving in the car, right? I am driving in the car, and I get this phone call from my eight-year-old grandson. He just lives less than a mile from me, but he's just you. He can't wait.
He's in the car with his mom. He's got to know. And he said, well, what do you need? He goes, Grandpa, how do I become a psychic?
I said, what? I want to be a psychic. How do I become a psychic? I said, River, your eight.
He goes, I want to be a psychic. How do I become a psychic? I know you know how to do this. I said, River, if you want to be a psychic, you're a psychic.
I just I have determined that you are a psychic. He goes, now, come on. You know better than that. You know, this is my eight-year-old grandson.
And he's you know better than that. He's telling me this. He goes, I'm serious. I want to be a psychic.
There must be a way to do it. Is there a school? I want to be a psychic. And I'm going, aren't you satisfied with the fact that you have excellent handwriting?
No, he wants to be a site. He has excellent handwriting. So much better than mine. I'm.
It's unreal. But anyway, I said, well, River, if you think you're a psychic, you're a psychic. I'm driving down Highland Avenue in Clearwater for crying out loud. And he's asking me this question.
I said, I'm going to ponder this. He goes, okay, you know, it's almost like I need a full report in the morning and triplet type thing. So, you know, I, how do you become a site? Well, first of all, what is a psychic?
According to the Oxford dictionary, it is a person who claims to have strange mental powers so that they can do things that are not possible according to natural laws such as predicting the future and speaking to that people. Okay. I've got some experience with psychics. I do.
As a matter of fact, I was a psychic. Yeah, me, I was a psychic. I work radio all these years. I have a lot of psychic stories I can tell you about.
But I worked radio for many, many years and long before I worked radio, when I was like a radio fan, I was in another town working and a friend of mine had a pretty successful nighttime talk show there. And I was having pizza with him before he went to work. And he's, he had a well known psychic that came on his show once a month. And that was the night of the psychic because you want to come watch the psychic in the studio.
I said, yeah. He says, okay, this is like 1980. And so I go to the studio and the psychic doesn't show up. And you know, he'd been promoting the psychic.
He says, you are now the psychic and we made up a name. I still the name. But I stole his name. And from somebody else that I knew, I borrowed his name and claim to be a psychic, a well known psychic from Cincinnati.
And we were going to do one segment, 15 minutes segment where I would take calls and be the psychic. You know, what the hell did I know? And I was working in order to call. Okay.
So I started taking calls as being this well known psychic. And before you know it, I'm just making stuff up. I'm just telling people essentially what they want to hear. And that ladies and gentlemen is the secret.
If you want to be a psychic, you tell people what they want to hear. And there's a few other little tricks that I kind of learned as I was doing it. But you know, it is basically entertainment is what it is in its best form. It's entertainment in its worst form.
It's fraud. And it hurts people and it does a lot of bad things. But it is best form. It is entertainment.
Years later, working in radio, I mean, many years later when I had children and stuff like that, a friend of mine who works radio down in Fort Lauderdale calls me up and she says, hey, you want a side gig? I said, what kind of side gigs? She goes, this was back when all of those members of the TV things where they had psychics that you could call like on a 900 number. I said, I work for an agency.
And if you want to work there, you have to have a phone lines. It doesn't have call waiting. And it's a single phone line. And I can hook you up and you get paid 45 cents a minute.
Now people are paying $2.99 a minute to be on this thing. And the side kick gets paid 40, I think it was 45 cents a minute. And I said, this sounds weird. She goes, I mean $4,000 last month because she had lost her radio gig and was now doing this full time.
And they looked for radio people to do this. They looked for people who worked in radio to do this. So I said, hook me up. So she hooks me up with this lady who's like the head psychic lady.
And she goes, okay, you're going to do a reading for me. So we do this like little pretend reading and I was good. This basically told her what she wanted to know. And I became a telephone psychic.
I remember the Dan Aykroyd, tell a psychic guy, if you know, you know, I was that in part time, which is definitely part time. That part time job was making me about $2,000 a month in the 90s. And I stopped because I noticed that and I stopped rather abruptly, by the way, because I noticed that people were calling back. I had a code number.
If they dialed the 900 number, they could ask for this code number. And they would get me if I was working and I had people calling me back and they were and I saw that it was unhealthy. And I said, no, the truth of the matter is, in my opinion, there's no such thing as a psychic. But if you're doing it for fun, if you're, if you're going to a psychic for fun, that's great.
That is, that is good. And maybe they can help you, but maybe they'll steal your money. Because besides psychics, there's this other thing that's out there. If you're going to want to learn how to be a psychic, you have to learn how to be an intuitive, because that's what a lot of these people do there.
Well, I'm not a psychic because psychics have a bad name. I am an intuitive. All right. Remember the husband and wife team years ago, they both had PhDs from this university in California that didn't exist, or it was a mail order.
You know, and they went by their, their name, Dr. Baba, and they weren't doctors. Okay. And the husband, they, they since have split up, but the husband wrote this book, you know, about, about relationships that is still famous to this day.
But the wife just got married several times after that. And now she's going, she's not calling yourself doctor anymore. But she's saying she's an intuitive. What is an intuitive.
According to the Oxford, dictionary, they have ideas obtained by using your feelings rather than considering the facts. Okay, I'm an intuitive. I'm an intuitive. So all I got to do is tell my grandson that you just have to tell people what they want to hear and come up with ideas based on your feelings.
And then you are a full blown psychic intuitive. You can't talk. Well, you can talk to dead people. I talk to my mom all the time.
My mom's been gone since 2005. I talked to her a lot. Talk to my sister too. They don't talk back.
But I talk to them. So I guess, you know, and I'm really grateful for that. So you want to be a psychic? All you have to do is say that you are in 1974, a guy by the name of Robert Ringer, who I don't like, by the way, he just don't like him.
But he wrote this book called winning through intimidation. He self published at first, and then publishing houses, pick it up and he has this little thing that he says to do and believe it or not, when I was in radio, I followed his advice on this one thing. And it says, if you want to be somebody, claim that you're somebody and then you are. I'm a psychic.
I'm an intuitive. I'm grateful. I am so grateful. I have no idea what this was about other than a strange phone call from my grandson.
We'll see you tomorrow.
