How to Be Comfortable With Not Being Okay & How To Support Others Who Are Not Okay - A focus on Mental Wellness
from Support, Protect, Empower - The Project Purpose Podcast · host Rachelle Innocent
How to Be Comfortable With Not Being Okay & How To Support Others Who Are Not Okay - A focus on Mental Wellness We love to tell people that, "It's okay to not be okay," but often we fail to provide people the space and the permission to not be okay in our presence. While the pain and suffering of others can be uncomfortable and unsettling, it really isn't about us. If people choose us to be vulnerable with, the only thing we need to do is show up and be present for them. Often times we avoid people who are going through challenging situations because we aren't quite sure how to support them - I'm here to say, just being available is enough. Community means showing up for one another in the good and in the tough times. That doesn't mean always having the answers or coming up with the solutions. So, for those of you who want to put your words into action, give people permission to not be okay around you, without feeling uncomfortable, or even making the effort to manage your personal discomfort about it. Video #2 and Podcast #2 on Mental Wellness addresses not being okay. #MentalWellness #ItsOkayToNotBeOkay #Community #SupportSystem #BeingPresentIsEnough #ManageYourDiscomfort #GivePermission #GoodTimes #ToughTimes #LendSupport *RESOURCES* - It's Okay To Not Feel Okay : https://hbr.org/2020/11/its-okay-to-not-be-okay - 7 Ways to Support Others Through Tough Times : https://www.huffpost.com/entry/7-ways-to-support-others-during-tough-times_b_7270550 - How to Respond to “Are You Okay?” When You’re NOT Okay: https://www.psycom.net/how-to-respond-are-you-okay For all topics related to renewing and rebuilding family, communities and relationships, check out our blogs!
