🐜 How to Build an ANT FARM AT HOME 🐜

from Slick Slime Sam · host TheSoul Publishing

WOW! Slime Sam and Sue are doing an unboxing video today! But you'll never guess what they are opening! Ready? It's an ant farm! That's right! After making funny videos about their pet bunny, pet rat, and giant African snail, they felt like they needed something even more exotic and had some ants and an ant farm delivered to their house. How will jelly Slime Sam take new occupants? Will Sue know what to feed them? Are there going to be candies inside? Watch the video to find the answers to these questions! Unboxing an ant farm - 0:37 Ant farm parts - 0:42 How to put an ant farm together - 0:48 Why is there a wet sponge in the ant farm? - 1:29 Connecting ant farm parts together - 2:42 Slick Slime Sam makes an appearance! - 3:25 Is Ant Farm drowning in water??? - 4:01 How to transfer the ants into the ant house - 4:32 This ant farm is really easy to assemble and no glue and no tools are required. The ant farm consists of plastic walls, plastic roof, some rubber bands that will help to keep all the parts together, a sponge and a small tube for water. All farm parts are usually included and the ants will arrive along with the farm. Do you think you could carefully catch wild ants? Do you think they would like an ant house like the one we made at home? We challenge you to test it! Be careful though, some ant species can bite and even be harmful so you better use protection and ask adults for help. WHERE DO ANTS USUALLY LIVE? The answer is... they can adapt and live pretty much everywhere! Natural ant habitat differs from species to species. They exist in large groups called ant colonies and live underground, in trees, in the walls of the buildings and houses both outside and inside. WHAT DO ANTS EAT? The answer is... pretty much anything! Most species are omnivorous which means they prefer eating seeds, nectar, and invertebrates (animal without vertebrae, i.e. backbone.). Army ants are mostly carnivorous. They hunt, destroy and eat prey, they eat insects such as flies and spiders, warms and even small vertebrates like lizards! You would never think that looking at small and hard-working ants, would you? Most ants have a massive sweet tooth and will go for anything that contains sugar. Soda drink, all kinds of fruit and vegetables, desserts, juice and so much more! So unless you want to share your meal with cute neighborhood ants make sure to cover the food with a lid if you are eating outside:) HOW MANY ANT SPECIES ARE THERE? You'll get old while counting, it's over 12 000 species in the world. ANTS FUN FACTS: - The ants in the video are called Cataglyphis Aenescens, runner ants, and they are most common in steppes but also in semi-deserts and deserts. - Actually, there are so many ants on Earth, that currently there are one million ants per human being! - The common worker ants live from 90 days to 3 years. And the ant queen can reign for up to 30 years! - Ants can carry weights 5000 times heavier than their own weight! Can you imagine that?! If an eight-year-old child had the strength and endurance of an ant they would be able to pick up a car with no trouble whatsoever. It's hard to believe but it's true. - Our ants are called runners because they are incredibly fast. They run faster than other species of ants because they can lift their abdomen in a special way! - Ants DON'T HAVE EARS! But they can "hear" with their knees and feet. They sense vibrations from their surroundings!
