And this is valuable to you as the owner of a profitable business.Being an authority in your industry or having a cult following drives down the cost of acquisition of your customer and drives up the customer lifetime value. But that isn’t going to keep people around long enough to help you continue to scale your business for years to come. As Teddy Roosevelt said, ‘people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.’ And it’s true: people’s brains limit them until you’ve emotionally engaged them. “If you're serious enough about your work that having a generational impact appeals to you, then you should be serious enough to study the greats that have come before you.” What do you actually need in order to build your status and authority as a thought leader? (29:09)First, you have to decide what kind of public figure you want to be.  Then get clear on your language, the way you want to communicate and talk to your audience that will leave an impact.
