Our agency rainmaker of the week is Craig Cody. Craig was born and raised on Long Island, NY. In between doing what average suburban kids do, he spent much of my childhood at the heels of my father who retired from the New York City Police Department after 33 years. Craig's interest in money and business led him to major in Economics at Cortland College. At 21, following in his father’s footsteps, he began his 17 year career with the New York City Police Department. Craig retired as a Lieutenant from the NYC Police Department in September 2000. He saw an opportunity to put his financial skills to work and joined an international CPA firm in their accounting practice. In September 2003, he added tax planning services to his practice, and realized that saving clients thousands in tax – and seeing the look of delight on their faces – gave him the same rush as chasing “perps” down the New York City streets. Craig's practice has evolved over time and now focuses on proactive tax planning, small business accounting, and tax preparation. Craig's most valuable work involves helping client’s spot mistakes and missed opportunities that cost them thousands in tax. He finds the prospect of helping clients cut their taxes rewarding, and although hectic at times, it is what I enjoy the most. No two days are alike. He is also the host of The Progressive Agency Podcast which helps Agency owners make and keep more of the money they make.
