How to Die With Grit & Grace ~ A Conversation with Erica's Friend Deborah
from SPIRIT 105.3 Moments · host Purposely
“The only good thing about cancer is that God can be glorified.” ~Deborah’s favorite quote "I Think I'm Supposed To Show People How to die…” God gave my amazing friend Deborah an incredibly special assignment. The bible says that Enoch and Noah were human beings who walked with God. I’d put Deborah in that group. She's one of the bravest people I've ever known. For years now, she's been battling cancer... and over the last few months she's been an extraordinary example of how to die with grit and grace. She did hospice karaoke. She picked me up on her e-bike after work one day and we rode up the street. She became a nurse magnet at the hospital. The joy of the Lord is her strength and it's like she welcomes you into her bubble of joy. A few weeks ago, when Deborah arrived on Heaven's "doorstep," I met her for once last latte. We sat in her mom's beautiful home overlooking the breathtaking mountains and talked about life and death, faith and friendship, and the wonder of Heaven, our Home. Her three beautiful children were close by, and her loving husband Nick sat at the table with us. I listened to their stories, stitched together by God's faithfulness and blessings, and His great love for this family. It is my privilege to share our conversation with you.
