Aristotle used  "eudaimonia" to describe the highest good humans can strive toward – to describe a life ‘well lived’. Some translate it as ‘happiness’. For Aristotle, it meant practicing virtues like courage, wisdom, good humor, kindness, and moderation. Perhaps "flourishing" or "prosperity" is a better word. They conjure an image of one who’s successful, healthy, and enjoys a good life, and perhaps a bit of good fortune.The Japanese have an ancient but familiar concept called “ikigai”. It means “a reason to get up in the morning” or more eloquently “waking up to joy”.
