How to have it all this summer: A thriving business AND fun with family
from Unlocking Your 6 Figure Business with Leanne · host Leanne Meiser
I am so excited to have Maryse on the podcast to share her thoughts and ideas for balancing your time and priorities over the summer! Maryse is a busy hockey mom living in Canada and went through the Life Coach School with me. Maryse explains why she doesn't like the term "work, life balance" because our lives are rarely balanced. We are usually more focused on one area at different times and it's essential to be aware of this. When we bring awareness to it we stop judging ourselves so much. We also need to stop and ask ourselves, "How can we make this more fun?" The process can be rewarding and fun if we make an effort to choose fun! Next, we dive into the concept of value priority vs. time priority - we all have values/priorities (family, business, dreams, etc.), but we all also have the same amount of time. Time is never wasted and it can't be saved. An example Maryse gives is: If your family is 80% of your priority and your business is 20%, you'll actually spend about 80% of your time on your business because it's providing the resources to spend 20% of QUALITY time with your family. The key is to spend focused time doing what you are doing - if you're with your family, focus on them and if you're working, focus on work. As we enter into summer let's focus on doing it intentionally. We do this by planning ahead of time AND planning for it to not go perfectly. When the plan isn't working the first step is to evaluate why it's not working. It might require a few tweaks along the way but that doesn't mean you are failing. Summer will be here before we know it so creating that plan, deciding your value priorities and time priorities, and knowing you will not be fully balanced is the perfect way to alleviate some of the stress and bring the fun back into your summer AND your work!
