How to know if it’s God speaking.

We learnt yesterday that counsel from God can come through Prayer, the word of God and fellowship. We explored the option of asking God and asking for wisdom. Now the question is how do you know if He’s answered and if it’s really Him and not your brain? Everything God tells you will not contradict His written word in the Bible. So this means that you need to be very familiar with what the Bible says. I know it is the beginning of the year, you don’t have time to go through the whole Bible in one day before planning your life. Google and AI are such great places for finding scripture relating to the topic you are praying about and whether the answer you got is in line with the word of God. You can also check with your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, or your pastor if the word you have received aligns with the Bible. The word of God can also be the answer you have been actually been looking for. Say you have prayed and are waiting for God to drop His counsel in your heart. You might find yourself reading the Bible and suddenly one piece of scripture pops out for you. When you read it, you find that it is exactly what you have been praying about. It might be the very instructions you have been waiting for. The Bible needs to be your best friend in this upcoming year, to help with giving you counsel and the governance of all the matters relating to your heart. The Bible teaches that we are all a part of God’s body. We need one another. We can’t function in isolation. You might be the neck in the body, but a neck needs feet to move from one point to another. So do not neglect meeting up with fellow-minded Christians. Form relationships with them and let them pour into your life while you also pour into theirs. It is these same fellowship that God can use to give you the much-needed counsel you need for the year ahead. Surround yourself with a community that can pour into you while you also pour into them.
