How To Know If Your Church Is Drifting

This week, we're putting a ruler on the message we hear at church and asking a question that matters for every Christian man: are you carrying what God gave you to carry, or are you letting someone else carry your discernment for you?We anchor the conversation in Acts 17 and the example of the Bereans, the people Luke calls “more noble” because they received the word with eagerness and examined the Scriptures daily to see if it was true. That means testing teaching is not arrogance, not rebellion, and not a lack of respect for authority. It is a habit of humble submission to God’s Word. We also draw a hard line between two ditches: eagerness without examination turns into gullibility, and examination without eagerness turns into cynicism with a Bible open.Then we make it painfully practical.
